Once they brought Emma Kate out she was crying and they just handed her over to me. She cried for just a few seconds and then just calmed down. She didn't fight me but she did resist just a little.
She was very content in my arms but she didn't want anyone to touch her or get too close, including Robert and Carter. After a little while she wanted her bottle and Robert was able to capture this precious pic with Carter hugging his sister.
She was very sweaty due to the thick layers of clothing so when our guide came to check on us she told me to take one of the layers off. After a while Emma Kate started to look around and let carter show her toys but she still didn't want to be touched. She even started smiling as Carter tried to play with her!
I am so happy to finally have her in my arms and to finally see a smile! She loved these stacking cups and she is very smart. She knew exactly what to do with the cups and if they didn't fit together she would quickly rearrange them so they would fit. We don't see any developmental delay at this point.
Robert finally got to hold her at bed time and give her a bottle. It was tough for him to wait all day but we didn't want to upset her and she would cry if anyone touched her besides me.
Praise the Lord for his mercy and love! What a gloriously and hard day. The beginning of a life redeemed. Glory to God!
